CBSE Date Sheet 2027 Out: Class 10, 12 Exams from Feb 16

What Are the Key Highlights of the CBSE Board Examination 2027 Schedule?

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officially released the comprehensive date sheet for the 2027 board examinations on November 6, 2026. Released 101 days prior to the commencement of exams, this announcement represents one of the earliest timetable releases by the board, designed to give students, teachers, and parents clarity for long-term academic planning.

According to the notification signed by Controller of Examinations Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, theory exams for both Class 10 (AISSE) and Class 12 (AISSCE) will start on February 16, 2027. Class 10 exams will conclude on March 9, covering 83 subjects, while Class 12 examinations will run through April 9 across 121 subjects. Over 45 lakh candidates registered through the List of Candidates (LOC) portal across India and 26 overseas countries will appear for these exams.

What Is the Daily Exam Timing for CBSE Class 10 and 12 Board Papers 2027?

CBSE board examinations will follow a uniform morning shift across all test centres, with paper writing commencing at 10:30 AM IST. However, candidates must observe strict entry deadlines to prevent disqualification. Centre gates will close at 10:00 AM sharp; no student will be admitted after this threshold regardless of circumstances.

At 10:15 AM, invigilators distribute question papers to allow a mandatory 15-minute reading window. During this period, candidates can verify page integrity, check question paper codes, and evaluate internal choices. Writing answers or marking the question paper with pens is strictly prohibited during reading time. Most major papers run for 3 hours, finishing at 1:30 PM IST, while select vocational and painting papers conclude at 12:30 PM IST.

How Did CBSE Structure Subject Gaps and Avoid JEE Main Clashes?

A major challenge in previous exam cycles was the narrow gap between technical board papers and national competitive exams. For the 2027 exam cycle, CBSE coordinated closely with data compiled from schools and national bodies like the National Testing Agency (NTA). The board ensured that two subjects commonly chosen by the same student do not fall on consecutive days.

Class 12 Science stream candidates preparing for JEE Main Session 1 will find substantial breathing space. The core papers—Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics—feature staggered intervals of four to six preparation days. PCB students similarly receive dedicated preparation windows ahead of Biology. Commerce students benefit from structured intervals separating Accountancy, Business Studies, and Economics, preventing cramming during intensive numerical revisions.

When Will CBSE Practical Exams 2027 Be Held for Regular and Winter-Bound Schools?

Practical exams follow two distinct schedules based on regional climatic conditions. For winter-bound schools located in hilly and snow-affected areas, CBSE scheduled practicals and internal assessments from November 9 to December 19, 2026. Schools must upload practical marks simultaneously on the Pariksha Sangam portal before winter vacations begin.

For all regular-session schools across India and abroad, practical examinations, project evaluations, and internal assessments will run from January 1 to mid-February 2027. Class 12 practicals require the presence of an external examiner appointed by the CBSE Regional Office, while Class 10 internal assessments are managed directly by school faculty.

How Can Regular and Private Candidates Access Date Sheets and Centre Details?

Regular candidates enrolled through affiliated institutions will receive their hard-copy admit cards and roll numbers stamped by their school principals in late January 2027. However, students should directly verify the authentic subject codes on the official CBSE date sheet 2027 PDF download available on cbse.gov.in.

Private candidates must track individual notifications via the dedicated Private Candidate portal on cbse.gov.in. Roll numbers, centre allocations, and digital admit cards for private students will be accessible using application numbers or previous roll credentials. Private candidates requiring practical exams for repeat subjects must liaise with their assigned examination centre superintendent as detailed in the official operating guidelines.

How Should Students Build a High-Scoring Revision Workflow Now?

With 101 days between timetable publication and the first paper, an unhurried, evidence-based study plan can transform academic performance. Students should map the date sheet against an honest syllabus audit to isolate weaker topics.

Divide your study week into three distinct operational blocks: completing textbook derivations and NCERT exemplar questions, solving chapter-wise previous years' questions (PYQs), and undertaking timed 3-hour mock exams between 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Practicing full-length papers at the exact time of the board exam conditions your focus and reduces exam-day anxiety. To sharpen precision across challenging numericals and competency-based questions, students can leverage the diagnostic practice tools available on Tution Sir.
